Well I thought it was time for another Waiting on Wednesday post! As most of you know Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Breaking the Spine. If you love finding out about all the wonderful books that haven’t been released yet so you can add them to your TBR lists (like I do) then I recommend checking out the Breaking the Spine site so you can click on the links to everyone else’s posts.
The book I’m featuring this week is not usually a type of book that I read very often. Which is why I felt like it deserved a post….the premise is so good that I can’t wait to read a book that is WAY more sci-fi than I’m used to reading. The book that I am talking about is…
Blurb via Goodreads:
Life in the outer realm is a lawless, dirty, hard existence, and Solara Brooks is hungry for it. Just out of the orphanage, she needs a fresh start in a place where nobody cares about the engine grease beneath her fingernails or the felony tattoos across her knuckles. She’s so desperate to reach the realm that she’s willing to indenture herself to Doran Spaulding, the rich and popular quarterback who made her life miserable all through high school, in exchange for passage aboard the spaceliner Zenith.
When a twist of fate lands them instead on the Banshee, a vessel of dubious repute, Doran learns he’s been framed on Earth for conspiracy. As he pursues a set of mysterious coordinates rumored to hold the key to clearing his name, he and Solara must get past their enmity to work together and evade those out for their arrest. Life on the Banshee may be tumultuous, but as Solara and Doran are forced to question everything they once believed about their world–and each other–the ship becomes home, and the eccentric crew family. But what Solara and Doran discover on the mysterious Planet X has the power to not only alter their lives, but the existence of everyone in the universe…
Doesn’t that sound fantastic?! So, this is the first book featuring spaceliners and space that I am truly excited about reading!! Sounds like it will have a ton of stuff to keep me reading…mystery, adventure, I’m going to guess maybe a little romance. And Solara Brooks sounds tough and independent, which I enjoy in a main character. While I wait for February to get my hands on this one, I currently started reading Alienated by Melissa Landers. I’m about halfway through that one and it’s great! Look forward to seeing a review of that one up on the blog in the future.
Has Starflight made it onto your TBR list? What are some other sci-fi books that you would recommend to a sci-fi newbie? Are you a fan of Mellissa Landers? I’d love to hear from you in the comments and be sure to leave links to your waiting on wednesday posts…I love checking them out! Happy Reading everyone!
